Herman
Oldenkamp was born in Holland in
1876, he married Berend Dina Smol and immigrated to the U.S in 1886. The couple
had one child, Herman Olderkamp Jr. who was born in South
Dakota in 1905 and married Jennie Wynia. Jennie and
Herman Jr. moved to Oregon in
1935 after losing their farm to the dust bowl and struggling with the great
depression. They moved to Tillamook after being invited by relatives who had
already settled in the area and started a farm that was passed on throughout
the generations. On Christmas day 1935, the couple arrived. Herman Jr. and
Jennie had several children: Herbert Oldencamp (a diary farmer who died in
2002), Alice, Berdena, Mary Lou, Linda, and Gary. Herbert had four children
with his wife, Netha: Jerry, David, Debbie and Joe. Joe married Michelle Carver
and had two children: Brandon and Caleb. After divorcing Michelle, Joe married
Sherri Tone and had four children: Luck, Emily, Ben, and Anna. Joe’s four
oldest children are TBCC alumni.
